OCTOPUSES:
EXTRAORDINARY CREATURES AT THE HEART OF OUR CAMPAIGN

Octopuses are known for their intelligence, adaptability, and fascinating behavior. But these remarkable creatures are currently under severe threat due to overfishing. In Italy alone, approximately 3,000 tons of octopuses are caught every year, pushing their populations toward danger.

Beyond their amazing characteristics, octopuses play a vital role in marine ecosystems. They are also a primary food source for the Mediterranean monk seal, one of the most endangered marine species. Sea Shepherd is tirelessly working to protect monk seals through their Monk Seal Defense Campaign, as only 700 monk seals remain. The survival of these seals is closely tied to the
preservation of octopuses, their essential food source.
