Sea Shepherd is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection of marine life, known for taking direct action against illegal exploitation and environmental destruction in the world’s oceans. Their mission reflects a deep commitment to defending ecosystems that are essential to the balance of our planet. Our collaboration with Sea Shepherd grows from a shared belief that protecting the natural world requires courage, persistence and collective responsibility.
Our care for the Earth and for all living beings that inhabit it has no boundaries. Each
creation we design carries this commitment, making it natural to stand alongside organisations that work to safeguard the oceans. Partnering with Sea Shepherd means contributing to a broader effort to defend marine life and preserve the fragile ecosystems that sustain it.
GUARDIANS OF THE SEA.
In 2024, we joined forces with these remarkable defenders of the oceans to create the limited edition Miomojo x Sea Shepherd Gift Box. The collection brings together three carefully crafted pieces made from SEAQUAL INITIATIVE® yarn, a high-quality material derived from marine plastic recovered from the ocean.
Beyond the objects themselves, the collaboration supports a deeper purpose. Twenty percent of the proceeds are dedicated to protecting octopuses, extraordinary and highly intelligent creatures currently threatened by overfishing. A small collection with a larger intention: turning materials once lost at sea into objects that contribute to its protection.
EXTRAORDINARY MINDS.
Octopuses are known for their intelligence, adaptability and complex behaviour. These remarkable creatures navigate the oceans with curiosity and sensitivity, revealing a level of awareness rarely found in the marine world. Yet today they face growing pressure from overfishing. In Italy alone, around 3,000 tonnes of octopuses are caught each year, placing their populations under increasing strain. Beyond their extraordinary nature, octopuses play an essential role in marine ecosystems.
They are a primary source of nourishment for the Mediterranean monk seal, one of the most endangered marine mammals on the planet. With only around 700 individuals remaining, their survival is closely connected to the protection of octopus populations. Through the Monk Seal Defense Campaign, Sea Shepherd works tirelessly to defend these fragile ecosystems, recognising that safeguarding one species often means protecting the delicate balance that sustains many others.
Through our partnership with the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE , every product in this collection is crafted from SEAQUAL® yarn, a material created from plastic recovered from the ocean. What was once discarded is transformed into a textile designed for durability, structure and refined use. This collaboration reflects a broader shift toward circular thinking in design. By recovering marine plastic and returning it to the material cycle, the process reduces ocean waste while contributing to a more responsible approach to fashion. A material story where environmental recovery and contemporary design move in the same direction.
A GIFT THAT CARRIES MEANING.
Looking for a gift with meaning? The Miomojo x Sea Shepherd Limited Edition Gift Box brings together design and purpose in a single gesture. Created for those who care deeply about the oceans and the planet, the box contains three exclusive pieces crafted from SEAQUAL® yarn, a textile made from plastic recovered from the sea.
Inside the box you will find a bumbag, a versatile piece designed for everyday movement, a wallet that combines clarity of form with practical function, and a durable washbag created to accompany travel and daily routines. Three objects shaped by the same intention: transforming recovered materials into purposeful design while supporting the protection of marine life.
With the purchase of the Miomojo x Sea Shepherd Gift Box, the gesture extends beyond the object itself. Each piece contributes to the protection of marine life, supporting efforts to safeguard species such as Mediterranean monk seals and octopuses threatened by overfishing and pollution. A small object that carries a larger intention: standing together as Guardians of the Sea.
