Miomojo and AnimalsAsia
Since our early beginnings in 2012, the Miomojo journey started in partnership with well-known international foundation Animals Asia, who works tirelessly to end the barbaric bear bile trade and monitor over 10,000 bears kept on bile farms in China and about 1,200 suffering the same fate in Vietnam. We also support their campaigns to end abusive animal practice in zoos and safari parks. To know more, please visit www.animalsasia.org
We proudly support Animals Asia with donations on every product sold. The collected amount is used to finance specific, concrete projects agreed upon with direct, collaborative input from the Animals Asia team.
To learn more about how your support of Miomojo has helped us contribute to the lifesaving work of Animals Asia these past five years, be sure to check out our "Supported Projects" section and our journal.
Thank you to every single buyer and customer who chose Miomojo. Together we are making a difference in many lives and helping facilitate the rescue and rehabilitation of so many intelligent and affectionate souls!
Two key projects will be carried out this year: The first project is bringing the moonbears home from Nanning, an ex-bear bile farm, to the rescue center in Chengdu, a lush sanctuary that is to be their comfortable forever home.
The second project is supporting the AAF team and particularly one of the resident veterinarians. She will give us regular insights into her work and the whole team’s activities at the rescue center in Vietnam.
Under our motto "you buy, we give", your loyal support was instrumental in helping us effect meaningful, positive change in 2016. Over USD$15,000 was donated to support the inspiring rescue in Vietnam of six beautiful moon bears who were driven 1,300 km from their painfully restrictive cages at a bear bile farm to the glorious freedom of sanctuary life.

In the first part of the year we funded essential construction works in an ex bear bile farm in Nanning. This provided constant source of fresh water for the bears to drink, refresh in the over 50 degrees’ heat and play in.

This year we also committed a sizeable portion of 10% of our net profit as "unrestricted funds", allowing Animals Asia to use these funds for other programs where they have been effecting meaningful change, particularly captive animal welfare. We feel very strongly about bringing about an end to zoos and safari parks that exploit animals for profit and are proud to partner with Animals Asia on this crucial animal welfare front.

With almost 20.000 USD collected in 2014, we were able to provide medications for 63 bears for 2 months, treating conditions such as osteoarthritis, kidney disease, heart disease, to name just a few. Also 8000 meals could be funded, which means we fed 110 bears for nearly two months!

Miomojo covered the logistics costs of sending UK eye specialists to both rescue centres in China and Vietnam, where all possible eye issues were tended to. In some cases, some bears were restored their sight, and we were blessed to have been there to witness these special moments!

Our personal commitment
Yes, we love what we do. Crafting beautiful cruelty-free design products and helping create interest in compassionate living excites and motivates us, but the most rewarding and gratifying part of it all is making a meaningful improvement in the lives of animals in need. That’s why we are always eager and ready to get personally involved in the projects we support, monitor their progress and visit on site to see and report to you what you help us to do.
The bears saved by Animals Asia can now begin a fresh, new chapter of their lives defined by peace and comfort, and with the best care possible in two amazing rescue centres in China and Vietnam.
We visited both sanctuaries and met these resilient survivors of years of unimaginable suffering and saw the inspiring work of Jill Robinson (founder of Animals Asia) and her incredibly committed team at Animals Asia. This made us even more proud of and committed to supporting them.
In 2013, we were fortunate to be on site in Chengdu and Tam Dao to witness the improvement and restoration of sight for many bears. This trip coincided with the transfer of an ex-bear bile farm in Nanning to Animals Asia, the largest and most ambitious rescue effort to date.
Since then, we have had the pleasure to spend additional time in both rescue centres and recently did an intensive volunteer week with the bears in the Chengdu rescue centre. The videos, photos and blogs below highlight how and why this charity and the work they do is so near and dear to our hearts.
